As part of a recent alumni initiative, 1stGenYale is a shared-interest group (SIG) under the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) that aims to connect first-generation alumni with each other and with current FGLI students to share their own experiences and become resources for current students. 1stGenYale hosts an annual event that includes an alumni panel, student discussion groups, and a networking reception for FSY (First-Year Scholars at Yale) students in the summer, and an alumni conference in the spring (the first which occurred in 2018).

1stGenYale is dedicated to supporting and connecting FGLI Yale alumni and students. We foster community across generations by creating spaces for alumni to share lived experiences, mentorship, and resources with current FGLI students, helping them navigate Yale and beyond. 1stGenYale is a shared-interest group (SIG) of the Yale Alumni Association (YAA) and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
1stGenYale hosts a wide range of annual events including alumni panels, student discussion groups, regional gatherings, a Family Weekend picnic, career networking, summer internships, Bulldog Days panels, and a summer day of interactive programming engaging alumni with new students for First-Year Scholars at Yale (FSY). Additionally, we’ve hosted two alumni conferences (2018 & 2023). Learn more in our annual reports! We also provide ongoing access to tools and guidance through our Revēlo and Pathfinder sites, as well as the 1stGenYale Summer Bulldogs Funding Guide, which supports students pursuing summer opportunities.
